Request an Interpreter Emergency: How to get an Interpreter when VIRS is closed

Requirements needed to be place on VIRS Referral List

In order to officially add your name to our referral list we must receive ALL of the following:

For Nationally Certified Interpreters:

For Pre-certified Hearing Interpreters

  • a copy of any state screening letter and/or documentation of your completion of an interpreter training program

For Pre-certified Deaf Interpreters:

  • a copy of any state screening letter and/or documentation of any trainings you have taken on Interpreting
  • a current copy of your resumé
  • a signed Agreement form (pdf) and Code of Professional Conduct  (pdf)
  • two reference letters from certified RID interpreters who have seen your work as a Deaf Interpreter
  • notification of having taken the RID Written Test if applicable
